Live Preview with MAMP Pro #2351

I am struggling to get Live Preview to work with my MAMP Pro.

I have set http://phoenix-test:8888/ in Live Preview Settings and have followed the instructions on this page: https://docs.phcode.dev/docs/Features/Live%20Preview/php-live-preview

When I edit a php or html page it does not live update in preview - though it does refresh when I save, showing the changes.
When I edit the css it does not refresh, even when I click save.

I have kept the setup simple to help me troubleshoot:

root

index.php
styles.css

My index.php is simply:

  <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css">

</html>

Interestingly the Live Preview icon is only half orange and constantly says 'Connecting'.

Can anyone help with how to get live preview working with MAMP? Even if it's just automatic refresh when saving css file, but preferably when typing?

Thanks for reporting the issue. Instant live preview without saving is not supported for external server files, and i believe, we have activated refresh on same only on the main file being previewed. We have to add support for reloading the live preview on change in any related files.

This is tracked under #1768 and may not be fixed in the next 3 months. brackets legacy has a better support for php, were you using brackets before?
