This is a proof-of-concept that basically proves that providing support for the Material Design navigation rail component is possible (without Jetpack Compose). I say it's a proof-of-concept just because this PR was made heavily with the assistance of AI and almost certainly should not be used as production code. I am not an experienced enough Kotlin dev to write all of this myself. Hopefully this will be helpful to encourage this library to officially support this feature soon.
How to test?
Run the Android sample app on a physical or emulated tablet with
yarn workspace react-native-bottom-tabs-example android
